Bridging the Divide is a group of research projects which utilise design methods and advanced technology to enhance lifesaving products for the poor.

At De Montfort University we are working to enhance the use and long term effectiveness of products for the poor, this is carried out through academic research and technological innovation. We are currently involved in various projects investigating; 3D Printing for Low Income Economies, Design Tools and Methods. To help disseminate this knowledge we will be developing a series of lectures and workshops.

3D printing technology is being used to facilitate enhanced product development which can be embedded into NGOs around the world. This could have a significant impact on product design and manufacture on both local and global level.

D-Tool

D-Tool has been created as a toolkit to enhance New Product Development for Low Income Economies. These tools support design decisions and demonstrate best practice.
